Why Mothering Sunday celebrations are not over yet
Mother’s Day - haven’t we just been there and done that?
Actually, while in the UK Mothering Sunday falls before Easter, in many parts of the world it is celebrated this weekend. The US, Italy, Iceland, and New Zealand are among the countries who mark the day of appreciation for mothers and maternal figures on Sunday 13 May.
The differing dates can be the source of confusion though. Perhaps you have experienced a brief moment of panic when you spotted a headline about Mother’s Day when you thought you had weeks left to sort a gift.
That’s what happened to @gypsylexx, who recently wrote on Twitter:
“Mother’s day in the United Kingdom never fails to give me a heart attack every year... got me feeling like a horrible daughter for a sec.”
There will be no second chances this time around, so if you live in a country that celebrates international Mothering Sunday on 13 May hopefully you've got a little treat planned. Plenty of mums will be waking up around the globe expecting to be, well, rather spoiled.
We'd like to take this opportunity to wish all our international customers a very happy Mother's Day - enjoy your celebrations.
